Biography:

Born in Neuss, Germany in 1938. Lived through the bombings of WWII. Helped with the reconstruction of

Germany after the war as a mason. Decided to look for greener pastures and emigrated, legally, to the USA in September of 1958. Joined the US Air Force in February of 1959. Received my US citizenship in Norfolk, Virgina in May of 1962. Met wife Joan in 1970, upon return from Vietnam, while stationed at Newark AFS, in Heath, Ohio. Married in July of 1971. Has two boys, Anthony and Erik.

I also have three grand children, Maddox, Alex and Sophie. Retired from the Air Force in the rank of Master Sergeant (E7) in 1979. Worked the next 24 years as programmer in the IT department of an insurance company in Celina, Ohio. Charter member of the Celina Kiwanis Club. Retired from the IT job in March of 2003. Was on the road by April 5th of that year by bicycle heading to the West Coast and back. See Hans' Bike Journals.
