Annual Governor's Project

Governor Bill Flinta

Term 2016 -2017

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.  Service is a key component of the Kiwanis experience, and throughout Ohio this service is carried out through the approximately 225 Kiwanis clubs and 7500 adult Kiwanis members within our District.  Kiwanis clubs are often assisted in service by their Service Leadership Programs, which include Circle K at the college level, Key Club at the high school level, Builders Club at the middle school level, K-Kids at the elementary school level and Aktion clubs designed for adults living with disabilities.  Kiwanis clubs are encouraged to survey the needs of their local communities and provide service to help meet those needs.  So as different communities have differing needs, Kiwanis service may look different from club to club and community to community.  Likewise there are multiple club meeting formats from traditional weekly meetings to online clubs, with various types of clubs in between to allow clubs to better meet the needs of their members and communities.  Ohio Kiwanis is proud to be entering its second century of service in Ohio.

All Kiwanis clubs are free to choose their own service projects, but clubs within Ohio this year will be encouraged to also support the Ohio Kiwanis Governor’s first family project by completing reading literacy related service projects within their community, and ideally involving their Service Leadership Programs in these projects.

Thank you again for visiting the Ohio Kiwanis website.  If you have questions or would like additional information about Kiwanis in Ohio please contact our District office at 614-848-5000 or via e-mail at info@ohiokiwanis.org   You may also visit Ohio District Kiwanis on Facebook.

Yours in Kiwanis Service,

Bill Flinta, Governor

Ohio District of Kiwanis International
